Thailand-Laos celebrate Visakha Bucha day in Bueng Kan

In Bueng Kan province, local residents and people from Laos have attended the alms giving ceremony celebrating the religious holiday of Visakha Bucha, with many children participating in this Buddhist observation.

At Wat Sud Khet Daen Siam Temple in Wisit subdistrict, Muang Bueng Kan district, Bueng Kan province today, Bueng Kan Provincial Deputy Governor Jamras Kangnoi led government officials, merchants, the general public, and faithful Buddhists from Thailand and Laos, to join the alms giving to Buddhist monks on the occasion of Visakha Bucha day.

In the meantime, Bueng Kan Provincial Cultural Office is holding Buddhism promotional events on the occasion of Visakha Bucha day at Wat Photharam Ban Tha Krai Temple in Bueng Kan subdistrict, and Wat Samakkhi Upatham Temple, also known as Wat Phu Kratae Temple, in Wisit subdistrict, featuring an ASEAN alms giving ceremony to Buddhist monks helping enhance the good relations of Buddhists in Bueng Kan province of Thailand, and Laos’ Bolikhamsai province.

Faithful Buddhists from Thailand and Laos today gave alms, including rice and dried food, to Buddhist monks and novices, followed by meditation, the observation of the five precepts, and a sermon.

Many people attending the event brought along their children to participate, and absorb the Buddhist culture, and pass on this aspect of the highly valued Thai heritage which promotes morality and peace in society. The event also helps stress the close relationship between Bueng Kan and Bolikhamsai in their observance of Buddhist ritual.
